Night One Recap

Aside from my award winning drinking im in pretty good shape. We ended up going to the hard rock hotel and casino to start off, unfortunately chuck had some stomach problems that took him out of
drinking early. Poor guy, how unfortunate is that. Anyways he managed to stay in the game as we headed to tangerine at treasure island. Ended up slamming some red bull and vodkas there which put us
all in rare form. Then it was back to the hard rock for more stumbling and drinking. It was then back to the hotel after some nasty late night eating.... And after all that its 930 am and we are all
up and awake. What the hell is up with that. Tune in later for day two.

men acting like boys.

Comment Box

Added a nifty comment box to the right... abuse it like you would me.

Awake

You can never underestimate the power of a good night's rest. I made it a point to stay home and get some sleep for once last night just because I knew that there'd be no sleep this weekend for me. Amazing how getting sleep can change your outlook on the beginning of the day. As of now I'm in a pretty optimistic mood which is rare for a morning. Of course the daily morning coffee helps too. But all in all... like Nina Simone says "Feelin' Good..."

Viva Las Vegas Baby

Whooo hooo!!!! One day and counting before I get my ass on a plane for a weekend in Las Vegas! That's right kids, myself, my buddy Chuck and RoachClip are headed for a guys weekend in vegas to celebrate Chuck's B-day! His actual age shall remain confidential in case he actually reads this blog... In keeping with my promise of updating this site daily I'll be doing just that throughout the course of the trip. I give the disclaimer now that if any photos or text come out less than ledgible and viewable I must remind that it is vegas and I can't guarantee the best quality blogging... but I shall try. Being that I am not much for gambling either I'll most likely be: A). Drinking B). Drinking C). Drinking More It's a pretty simple plan and one I intend on sticking too. So if you get a free moment this weekend remember to crack open this site... I don't know what I'll be posting but you never know man, it's vegas.

Boom

The gym workout today made me feel like puking.

Playlist

So I was on iTunes this morning browsing the new sh*t and decided to come up up with a playlist of my own. These are all songs that currently are loaded in my ipod and that I am really digging right now (In no particular order). But as everything else changes, tommorrow would probably render a different list. Anyways, on with the goods:

1). "Lit Up" - Buckcherry
One of the only song that will make my hand form into the devil sign with no intervention from me what so ever. Rock at it's finest.

2). "I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You" - Colin Hay
Found this song off the Garden State soundtrack. Reminds me of home in Hawaii everytime I hear it. Also makes me want to drink coffee...??

3). "A Message To You Rudy" - The Specials
Old school ska before ska was even cool. Originators man, originators.

4). "Outshined" - Soundgarden
One of the only singers that made me want to put down drum sticks and learn to sing like a pro... of course this was after my career as a super model faded.

5). "Sumthin' Sumthin' " - Maxwell
Damn this song (and artist) makes me wanna get down and freak when I hear it. Kinda awkward when this comes on in the car and it's just me and my buddy Tom in the car on the way to the gym.

6). "Pack Up" (Remix) - Lyrics Born
West coast rapper with theee coolest flow you'll ever hear. Holds it down and would probably be great at a house party.

7). "Through The Dark" - KT Tunstall
Cool new singer songwriter with a sh*tload of talent. Saw her on a live TV show somewhere and she imrpessed the hell out of me. Not an easy thing to do when it comes to straight up live performance skills... ya' gotta have em' and she does.

8). "Before I Forget" - Slipknot
Just to remind myself where my roots really lie... hard and heavy. These f*ckers do just that. Drums on this track are pretty intense. I think I would cramp up if i tried to play some of it.

9). "Stand Up" - Steel Dragon (From the movie "Rockstar")
My buddy Chuck let me borrow this CD and I immediately ripped it onto my ipod. This songs rocks!!! As all of the others from steel dragon of this soundtrack do. But of course the drumming does it for me... this song has it.

10). "Maps" - Yeah Yeah Yeah's
I'm not one for big 80's throw back bands but for some reason this band stands out to me. Great song and haunting singing on it. Chills...

There it is, my playlist today... I don't think I exposed anything here that would suprise anyone, just tryin' "keeps it real". Stay tuned for the next playlist sometime when I get bored again.

Origins

A small tribute to the man that inspired me to pick up a set of sticks in the first place. Doesn't get any cooler than this.

Lunch

Nectar of the gods.

Old school cousins

For all you music peeps out there... I've been in rehearsals with an old band of mine Called "Cousins Of The Wize" for a show that we are playing out in San Diego next weekend. This is a band that I hold dear to me as it was the project I was in before joining up with the Phunk Junkeez. If you get a chance, check em' out and look for em' playing in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area. I'm pretty honored that they asked me to do it and being that I had the weekend off I said basically "hell ya". We're playing at Blind Melons in San Diego on Friday June 9th and then in Escondido CA on Saturday the 10th. If you're in the area come check us out. We're guaranteed to make you drink and dance, two things that I'm not allowed to do in public anymore...

Movie

The squid and the whale. Intense man... Intense.

Tuesday Night

Dinner... (eyeing the bottle of wine)

Stick clicks...

My buddy Tom half jokingly asked me if I click my sticks to start off songs when I play, (He's a non-musician) and I responded back to him saying that yes I do... and not only before songs but before just about everything I do: "1, 2, 3, 4 ...!" - get up and take a shower, "ready...? 1, 2, 3, 4...!" - eat cereal, "1, 2, 3, 4 ...!" - check email.

You get the picture, dunno what I would do during the day without this meaningless and petty banter.

Stud.

My buddy tom. Hes a dad... And a boy at the same time.

Magic Soy.

The most common green that goes into my body lately... The edamame bean. This little guy is packed with protein and tastes great warm with some salt lightly sprinkled throughout. I eat edamame about five times a week which helps keep me happy (not easy to do). If you have never had this stuff do your body a favor and indulge in it. Your little heart and muscles will love you for it.

Short week

I gotta give it to these three day weekends, not only do you get 3 days of bliss but at the end of it you get dropped off on tuesday which gives you only 4 work days for the week... yum. Mentally I'm at Monday but at this point who cares.

I was never one to really count the days of a week, I try to avoid it because it makes me feel like all I do is live for weekends but lately work has been so grippingly crappy that I have found myself resorting marking off calendar days. Something has got to change there... between my muscial projects being on short hiatus and work getting more political every day, there seems to be no break from the grind that is the work week.

I think I am nominating this blog posting for "Whiny post of the week". Lets hope this doesn't get worse. Must be a case of the Mondays on a Tuesday.

Achieving Goals...

There is something to be said for reaching goals that you set for yourself. This past October I decided to get into shape, the old school way. Eating right and excercising... the only way I really know how. I go to the gym 5 days a week alternating cardio workouts and weight training. I decided to cut out all junk food (except for my free day... see previous posts) and only eat what I like to call "Clean and lean" foods like fish and chicken. (I love salmon). The only thing that I decided not to cut out was alcohol. It's my only vice... Anyways, of course eating right and excercising have become part of my life instead of looking at it as dieting, that would never work. So don't know what you think but so far I like the results. Makes all those crunches and miles of jogging worth it, especially when it's noticed by others. - Thus ends my gloating blog for today.

Ugh...

So memorial day weekend is over and i made it out alive. Went out last night and ended up seeing folks that i havent seen in a long time. Funny how a three day weekend seems to find the party in
everybody. Cheers and beers! Tonight, good cooked chicken, wine and a good movie. Thats a vacation in itself.

Unless you count doing shots of jack without losing my dinner. Still one more day though... Wish of luck.

Hell Ya.
