Went and saw "Pirates Of the Carribean" last night... Didn't think the movie was as good as the first one but Johnny Depp of course, did a fine acting job. I read somewhere that he based his character off of Keith Richards...? Anywho, he did a great job. The special effects in it were primo as well.

I still think I liked Superman a bit more than "Pirates" but still a good flick.

... and no popcorn for me.

Every Tuseday morning I make sure to check out this. It's a a guilty pleasure I know but I just can't resist. Anyways my spankin' new drumkit should be coming either today or tommorrow and I am pretty psyched about it. Like with anything else new all I can do is think about how it's gonna fit into my current lineup and how it's gonna be configured. The Junkeez have a show on Aug. 12th at the Marquee Theater and I'm hoping to have it dialed in by then so I can show it off in all it's glory. I'm such a drumming whore that I love showing things like that off.

Rising from the ashes of yet another weekend...
Thanks to all the friends who came down to Dos Gringos in Tempe on saturday to support the Chris, Randy, and Mike acoustic act. Those guys are great musicians and good friends and kudos again to them for letting me sit in. They also picked up all my drinks and food... very cool thanks guys.

As for my next show, I have one this Friday at Last Exit in Tempe with another band: CigarBox but being that it's only Monday I'll save the details for a little later in the week. Can't blow my wad too early...

Also had a great time hangin' out with my sis' Cameo yesterday. It was her birthday yesterday so once again the drinking hat came on which of course is not a problem for me. Had a good time hangin' out and it was great to see Cameo & Delany and all of her friends.

That is it for now... after I wake up I'll write more fascinating stories.

So, the big news for me in my little self indulging world is that I ordered a brand spankin' new drumkit yesterday. Yeah... I'd say it was an impulse buy but truth is I've had my eye on a new one for a while. Call it a belated birthday present to myself. I already have a kit that I use only for the Junkeez and I say "only" because after every show we play here I'm usually in too much of a "good mood" to break down my gear so our road crew ends up doing it and throwing it in the truck which proceeds to get locked up with the rest of the gear at the studio. Therefore it becomes one big pain in the ass to go get it afterwards... So I say screw it. I also have another smaller "B" kit which I use for another band that I play with which after this new purchase, will be deemed my "floating" kit. I'll probably use it for multi purpose gigs around town etc.... Bored yet?

Anyways, I am having a little bit of buyers remorse but I'm sure that once it gets here I'll giddy like a school boy.

In other news, it is Friday today and that always makes me a bit chipper. They say today is going to be one of the hottest days of the year... I say "bring it on!" Temperatures to reach 115 degrees so if you don't live in AZ, thank your cooled off little arses'. For those of us that do, make sure you wear the least amount of clothing as possible to stay cool.

I'm not wearing any underwear today.

After a night of much needed rest I'm finally wide eyed and awake. Although I can't really remember the last time I ever really got 8 hours of non stop sleep. My poor bod' has not seen that much sleep since I was in grade school. I don't know anyone who gets that kind of sleep man... I wake up at least twice during the night and only when I concentrate can I get back to where I left off. It seems like the older I get the less sleep I'm getting and the earlier i wake up on the mornings. Anyways, just thought I'd mention how nice it was to wake up on not have any one of these following things:

- Hangover (that's a big one)
- Headache
- 3 Hours of sleep
- Gas
- Regrets about what I did the night before

Why can't every morning be like this one.

Tired, hungover, grumpy, and lazy...

BUT, we had an awsome show last night!!!! Before I go on though let me just apologize to anyone who came out and couldn't get in because apparently it was an "Industry Invite Only" party. This little piece of information was not relayed to me which would have helped out ALOT. I ended up telling all kinds of people about the show and ended up feeling like an ass when I found out that news so once again, a big I'M SORRY to anyone who got turned away. I'll promise to be more on top of the ball next time about that kind of stuff.

Anyways, the good news is that the show was great and it was good to get back in the saddle again with the guys. It's been way too long. Definitely looking froward to the Aug. 12th show at the Marquee and that one I can assure you will not be invite only.

Mondays hurt...

Most of you who read this know me pretty well so if you do you know how much I've been bitching about not playing any shows lately. Well tonight that gets put to rest for at least a little while. My band is finally playing a show tonight at Martini Ranch up in Scottsdale and I can't tell you how much I have been waiting for this. We really haven't played out in about 2 months and that has been 2 months too long. So if you're in the area tonight or have nothing to do then come down and get drunk... who cares if it's Monday. I'll be coming into work with a hangover so why should you be excluded from such fun?

On another note, I believe I'll also be sitting in with my buddies Chris and Randy over at Dos Gringos in Tempe on Saturday form 4 - 8. They have been kind enough to let me rock out with them during their acoustic set but don't let the "acoustic" word mislead you. They definitely get the party going. I'm looking forward to doing this just as much as tonight.

So there it is... I can stop my bitching about playing at least for this week. Next week, back to the yapping and complaining, blah', blah' blah'!!!!

First CD

Someone asked me the other day what was the very first CD I ever bought. I had to think about that one for a bit. Then it came to me... (I'm gonna lose alot of readers here, I know it). CD number one was: Taylor Dayne - "Can't Fight Fate" circa 1989. Oh yes... I was going through a transition period back then. I was in eighth grade I believe and hadn't yet fit into what was my real taste in music. (I could sure cut up the 8th grade dance floor though...)

Nothing against Taylor of course, she's screamin' hot and she can sing the head off of a turkey but obviously the ROCK hadn't hit me yet. This was just about the time I picked up drumsticks for the first time. Now that I think about it my next CD purchase around that time was Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood. I was right on track after that.

I hope you can forgive me and judge me not by what I was but by what I am now... please I beg of you.

8am, cereal is in my tummy and now I'm suckin' down some coffee. I had mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I can easily fall into routines. Well, a recent routine I've fallen victim too lately has been craving Special K (w/ red berries) cereal in the mornings. I HAVE TO HAVE IT. My day just doesn't feel right if I don't load up a bowl of this stuff every morning. I've had to make extra trips to the grocery store in the morning before work with a massive hang over just to get my fix of this stuff. I do believe it's got me by the balls. I dunno how I'm gonna break this routine... perhaps maybe I can take up some equivalent like crack/cocaine or something.

Finally got off my ass last night and caught "Superman Returns". I've been waiting to see this flick for some time now. Yeah, yeah..., I'm that guy that scours the internet when I hear about a new movie coming out that looks interesting to me and I've been following this one for about a year now. (My inner geek...) Anyways I thought it came through and delivered well. Granted there may have been some obvious special effects but it's fr*ckin' Superman for cryin' out loud!!!

Anyways... I'd say what I liked about it the most was the little spots in the movie that paid tribute to Christopher Reeve. If you are old enough to remember those earlier Superman movies then you should have noticed a few things that were "old school" so to speak. My gripe? Kate Bosworth... sorry, not sold on her at all. I think they could have found a better Lois Lane, perhaps an actual brunette maybe?

Also wanted to add that I went solo to this one. I don't recommend it, movies are always more fun with good company but hey, sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet.

I ended up holding on to it or really actually forgetting I had it for about 3 weeks. The employees there at Hollywood smirk now when I visit them. Dirty little kids.

And just like that the Fourth of July weekend has come and gone... hope ya'll (yes that was a "ya'll") had a good time this year. Me? had to do some dog sitting and kept my vacation to a minimum this year. One of these times I imagine I'll go out on a boat or hit the lake etc. etc. but can't say that I'm in a big hurry to get out there.

On more exciting news I got a great gift for my birthday, Sirius satellite radio... I never thought I would be one to get on the satellite radio bandwagon but after having it for a few days I can already see what all the hype is about. So far I've already programmed my favorite hardcore, heavy metal, r&b, rap, hair metal, reggae and jazz channels into this baby and am lovin' it. It's amazing how different radio can be when it's commercial free and offered in such variety! I highly recommend looking into it if you don't already have it and if you can swing the $13 a month service fee. There's also a Playboy channel on there somewhere that I'll be checking out of course...

I don't know how I feel about
this yet. I mean, is this just some TV network executive's stupid idea to get these three musicians together and capitalize on Tommy's new found (recycled) fame or what? Spells disaster and I am predicting a dud. Don't get me wrong... I am and always will be a Tommy Lee fan till the end but this new project that he's putting together has no track record and could sound like a car wreck. Super groups don't always work out and from the looks of it I don't think this one's gonna be any different. My problem is that I can't stand these reality shows so I probably won't even watch the damn thing to find out if it sucks or not. For Tommy's sake I hope it works out for him because he is a celebrity BUT he is a bigger celebrity with his band and can never seem to break out of that. Maybe he shouldn't... Even if they do find some kick ass singer there is no guarantee that their original stuff is gonna be good or more importantly sell.

I believe I will retract my earlier statement. I thnk I do know how I feel about this...

Weekend hangover in full effect. So tell me that you did SOMETHING this weekend? Shop? Eat greasy food? Tequila shots? Made out w/ somebody? If you haven't taken the time to stop and smell the July 4th weekend aroma then you should visit you nearest doctor's office and have your pulse checked because you might be dead.

Me? I spent some quality time on Friday night and Saturday night partying it up and celebrating my glorious 32nd birthday. Thanks to all you people out there whom thoughtfully wished me a happy birthday. You make me all giddy and fuzzy inside and I really appreciate it no matter how old Im getting. Fortunately for me my bday fell on a saturday this year which made for 2 weekend nights of partying, friday night ringin' it in and saturday night ringin' it out. Good times, good times baby.

Last night me and the boys also got to see Cinderella and Poison out at Cricket pavilion. First time me seeing both those bands and yes I will admit it... I am a full blown closet 80's metal head. Good times were had by all and still after 20 some odd years of touring and God knows what else they both sounded pretty good. I must say I was impressed. And oh yes' big rock drum solos always get me everytime. For those of you that know me and have seen me play it's pretty obvious that I'm all about the big drums, big sounds, and big theatrics. Kudos to Chuck for getting us wired in on the show.

On more music news, my band... yes you heard me, will be playing a week from tonight at Martini Ranch. I can't tell you how psyched I am about this. Even though it's on a crummy Monday night I'm still looking forward to getting back down to business if only once this month. I haven't posted much news about the band lately because well, there really hasn't been anything to report but finally I have something of interest to throw out so if you ain't got nothing going on next Monday night and you don't mind going into work with a little bit of a hangover (I know I will...) then come out and git' your shake on.

If you aren't in the know yet my wonderful big sis' plays in a side band called The Pubes and I finally got the chance to go check em' out last night for the first time. Let me just tell you that although it may seem that I am bias for obvious reasons, I am always honest w/ myself when it comes to seeing how good bands really are and I am here to tell you that this band f*ckin' ROCKS!!! For all you lazy AZ people, if you want to see a good band, laugh your ass off, and have your face rocked off then go see THE PUBES. With songs like "8000 Miles For Bootie" and "Razorburn" and "Chupacabra" how can you go wrong? Trust me you won't be disappointed.

Just so you know... I wanted to say that I was born to play rock music.

I dunno what it is about rock that makes my blood churn but no matter how old I am, no matter what has happened in my life I've always held a secret spot in my cold black heart for crunching guitars and booming drums. I've never softened up and turned to other music to get me off. Don't get me wrong, I like rap, hip hop, pop, country, R & B etc. but when it comes down to it I play, hear, and feel rock throughout and a good song will always stop me dead in my tracks. The genre has gone through some changes over the years but sonically it's the same and it always repeats itself.

F*ck trends, F*ck the radio, F*ck what everbody else is listening too, F*ck what your friends say you should listen too... I will always rock out with my cock out. Even when I'm old and crusty (crustier that is...) and my kids are running around like chickens w/out heads I'll still put on a good rock song or album and play my air guitar and bang on my drums. Dig?

Anyone out there who likes good live music, cold beer during the day and good friends ought to go check out a friend of mine. His name is Chris Tafoya and he plays great live acoustic music with his buddy Randy out at Dos Gringos in Tempe every other Saturday and Sunday from 4pm - 8pm. They play all your favorite drinking tunes as well as some of their own stuff which kicks major day drinking ass. Chris has a website you can check out that has great info on where he's playing and also a slick photo gallery that he constantly updates. There's a few pics on there of me getting loaded in the middle of the day, one of my favorite past times. So if you have a chance grab some friends and check him out... tell him that Mike sent ya'.

So I'm still finding time to plug away at this blog site's re-design. So far it's lookin' pretty snappy but it's gonna take a little more fondling to get it running. Will keep ya informed. I also have been hit up by the guys in the band to help do a site re-design. That should crop up in a little while as time permits.

To be honest though... I have been struggling creatively like no other. I feel like a dried up orange with nothing left to squeeze out. I know this now because trying to get myself to do anything creatively whether it be graphic design or web site building is like pulling teeth. Sucks too because I am a monster at it... I can put together a rolls royce of websites if I just were inspired by something and thought it was gonna pay off in some way but f*ck... I am in a rutt.

Feeling a little sluggish today. For some reason the coffee this morning just isn't going down as smooth as it usually does and my cereal is making me feel bloated. Dunno what is up with that?

Anywho, I've decided to finally break up with my credit last night. Had I known how psycho it was before getting together with it I would have easily passed but noooooooo, I had to fall victim to it's sexy & tempting ways. My credit card and I had a good run though, we spent alot of time together and brought eachother (what I thought was...) eternal happiness and bliss and now our relationship is a bitter broken one with nothing but painful thoughts and sour exchanges. Maybe one day we will patch things up and get back together again but for now it's time we go our separate ways. Besides I need to spend more time with my debit card who is maybe less glamorous but at least honest with me.

On the final run of my 31st year of life this week. That sounds drastically morbid but I was always one for the dramatics. Gave my ID to a bouncer at a bar the other night for an age check and he actually looked surprised to see that I was in my 30's. Suprisingly that made me giddy' inside like a little girl. I was never big on the whole lying about your age deal. Granted I don't mind being in my thirties, I just don't find it fun saying it... but I do. I figure the more I say it, the more natural it will be when rolling off my toungue: "Thirty Onnneeeee". I figure soon it will become an automatic reaction in my body like when you immediately duck your head when you see a bee doing a straight nose dive for your big noggin'... perhaps just like that.

So as I said last week the new Pink Taco restaurant opens this week in Scottsdale and with a little luck RoachClip, Chuck and I will get a seat there for some din' din'. I say "with a little luck" because chances are the place is gonna be slammed and we'll have to wait for an hour just to get a look at the hostess whom I might add, will probably be smokin' hot. wish us luck.

On another note, I leave my dog sitting duties tonight and it's back to normal life for me and my liver. It was nice hangin' out with the dogs for a few days but I've come to the realization that I am way to irresponsible to take care of 2 dogs for an extended amount of time. Not that I didn't do a good job w/ them because I did, but I know that in the long run they need and actual adult to care for them instead of a 31 yr old (soon to be 32) child. I think most of you out there would agree yes?

I've decided to try and apply a wee' bit more energy here to my blog and do a re-launch / re-vamp to it. I'm diggin' on the ease of use and felxibility but the layout and theme isn't doing for it anymore..., not gritty enough. So I'm workin' on an idea for a well themed site that will have a bit more substance, a bit more uumph' and a bit more balls. Not sure yet what exactly that means but hopefully it'll be cool. I'll let ya' know as things progress. In the meantime you get version 1.0.

In other useless news, it is my 32nd birthday next week saturday... yes, again that's my THIRTY SECOND birthday. That was meant for me, I'm having trouble coming to terms with that. Anyways it seems like I've come to a crossroads with what to do. I'm not sure if I should actually plan something and try to con all my friends into doing it with me (whatever it is...) or should I just let it come and go and keep celebrations to a manageable level? I'm not sure what to do here so ring in on the comments if you have any suggestions that A). You think I would love and B). Are affordable to someone like me who eats tuna from the can on a regular basis.

Tell me what to do on my birthday, the older I get the less in touch I become with what birthdays should really be like.

Also wanted to add that my blog just turned one month old today! (Whoop whoop!) Honestly I didn't think I really had it in me to keep something like this up for this long, especially on a daily basis but turns out I have enough junk in my head to spew at least one piece of useless information per day. Suprisingly there are also people that take the time out of their busy lives to read this... time of which I cannot give back to you so for that I say "Thank You". I shall commit to at least another month of this verbal heaving and re-evaluate at that time whether or not the people have had enough.

I know I probably won't be ready to stop, I can never get enough of myself.

Ok, so a friend of mine persuaded me to watch SAW last night. Now let me just start off by saying that I'm "thee" biggest cheese ball wuss' when it comes to movie selections and the suspense/horror section usually isn't where you'll find me hangin' out. I know, I know... trust me I've been ridiculed many times for this and have probably missed out on some good movies because of it but all I can say is I have nuts the size of raisins when it comes to watching horror movies.

So... with that said, let me just say that SAW is a great f*ckin' movie! Yes it does have a bit of gore but it's actually for a purpose. There's no blood in guts in there for no reason and trust me, there is a reason. For those of you whom have seen it I'd just like to say that it's nice to join the ranks. For those of you whom haven't seen it because of the same reasons I had then believe me if I can watch it then you can too.

I'm sure I've probably just lost a few readers here after finding out just how macho I really am but at least I should get a little bit o' street cred' for making it through the whole movie. AND I am also open to seeing the second SAW II movie... not bad eh'?

So I've finally figured out how to wire all of my email notifications to one address which I can now also access from my Samsung A900 phone. I've wired up my MySpace page, work email, personal email, and blog site all to one address so when things happen at any of these places I can find out about it from my phone if necessary. What does all this mean?

Nothing really...

All it means is I have more ways of distracting myself in meetings, stuck in traffic, during commercials, on the toilet, or just plain doing nothing. Technology is great man and I have always been a fan of the internet since day one (Wrote my first web site in 95') but I do believe that I've become a slave to it and can't go a day without reading some kinda email or something! It's sad really... but the truth. I even have trouble picking up and reading the newspaper because I can't hit the refresh button to see if anything new has come in.

So perhaps I need a vacation from all this... a vacation from myself. I think I'll grow a mustache like Seinfeld and see if that does the trick.

Anyways, watched the movie "Signs" last night and thought it was pretty good. I am a fan of just about anything that M. Knight Shyamalan puts out. He's got a keen sense of suspense and usually doesn't adhere to the typical Hollywood story telling that comes out alot these days. Can't wait for his new flick that is coming out this summer i think called "Lady In The Water". AAhhh just something else to look forward too.

On another note, it looks like my band's plans for a summer tour are nixed... It's taken a little while for me to admit it but I guess I have to come to terms with that. So anyone out there who was hoping for one this summer will have to wait a bit longer. Talks of a fall tour are being discussed and as with everything else we won't know for sure till later on. Sorry about that folks but trust me, I'm just as frustrated as you are... Perhaps more.

Thoughts for the weekend...

Every friday afternoon (usually right before happy hour) I come to the edge of a metaphoric cliff and stand on the edge to look out into the vast scenery known as the weekend and ponder what lies ahead for me this time. Drinking? pool time? free day? Perhaps all of the above...

Tonight I will be filling my late evening with the COTW show that I've been so eagerly pumping up all week. I don't know if I've already said it but I'm looking forward to it. A home show with these bunch of cats is a great treat for me, being that my current music projects are "hibernating" so to speak.

Saturday maybe some laundry... my boxer drawer is getting pretty thin nowadays and if I don't address the issue soon I'm going to have to pull out the 3rd and 4th stringers. eeewwwhh' (5th string are tighty whities by the way, let's hope it doesn't come to that). Saturday night I imagine will encompass some kinda fun with alcohol. One can only guess... OH' YEAH! Forgot to mention that Saturday is "Free Day" in which I get to pig out and eat just about anything I want for a full 24 hours. This usually starts late friday though somewhere around 2:30 am. QuickTime taquitos here I come.

Sunday I'm pretty sure I'll be feeling the pain which makes for a good day of rest. Also I'm sure my living space will be a total mess. I tend to neglect it during the weekend and live in a sty for a day or two.

Also today my buddy Tom, whom has made an appearance more than once here on my luxurious blog space is coming back from his family trip to Mexico. He packed up the whole family in his pathfinder (2 kids and the in-laws) and drove down to the beach for a week. He said he's supposed to be rolling back into town around 5-ish and the beauty of it is that he's already hit me up wondering about where happy hour is today. Now that's a trooper I tell you.

Rented and watched 16 Blocks last night mostly because I'm a fan of MosDef and because Bruce Willis looks like sh*t in it. Turns out he does play a washed up cop who is on the verge of a mental breakdown. Anyways, great movie with a big fat "Thumbs Up" from me.

On the announcement tip, I have another show with my former band Cousins Of The Wize this friday at Chasers in South Scottsdale or "South-dale" as it's called by anyone who is anti North - Scottsdale. (Sorry all you out of towners, it's a pride thing here...) So if you wanna come see my ugly mug and listen to some great party music and trade shots with me come on down like the Price Is Right.

And since I'm on the announcements, the new Pink Taco resturant is opening here in Scottsdale this weekend. The original Pink Taco is a resturant in the infamous Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas... I guess they figured AZ was worthy enough to host another one which works out great for me cuz the they have great food and of course will probably have hot waitresses whom also will want nothing to do with me.
